My mom was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease about 4 years before she passed away on April 10, 2009 - which just happened to be Good Friday that year, as well as my youngest child’s 3rd birthday. Mom was only 78. Fast forward 10 years to April 13, 2019, when I received my own diagnosis of PD. My biggest symptoms are bradykinesia and stiffness, which often make it very difficult to move. I also suffer mind numbing fatigue. I am so grateful for Michael J. Fox and his Foundation as they work tirelessly to find a cure for this dreadful disease.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $800 million in high-impact research funded to date.
