Mr. Jon M. Anderson, age 84, of Danbury, formerly of Brookfield, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday December 8, 2021. He was the husband of Claudia E. (Semenetz) Anderson.
Mr. Anderson was born July 28, 1937 in Danbury, son of the late Stuart and Reita (Durant) Anderson. He retired after working for 30 years as a science teacher and golf coach in the New Milford Public Schools where, as a coach, he was honored to be inducted into the athletic hall of fame. Jon was also the golf pro at the Candlewood Lake Club in New Milford after his retirement from the school system.
Jon’s interests included golf, bowling, officiating both soccer and volleyball, bridge, computers, many varied cooking interests, gardening, hosting parties and enjoying a good cocktail with friends and family. He traveled extensively in the United States in a motorhome and outside the country including trips to Africa, India, Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, Russia, Turkey, Alaska, Costa Rica, and Thailand. Jon also enjoyed summering at the beach in Green Hill, Rhode Island where he was an active member of the Green Hill Beach Club.
In addition to the love of his life and wife of over 59 years, Claudia, Mr. Anderson is survived by his children: Jeff Anderson and his wife Julia of New Preston, Julie Barry and her husband, Dan, of Fayetteville, GA, and Jim Anderson and his wife Megan of Austin, TX, his sister: Linda Claff and her husband David Rheubottom of New Hampshire. Jon’s 7 grandchildren include: Briana, Alina, Tegan, Katie, Jake, Reilly, and Erinn, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother: Jay Anderson.
