It is with great sadness to report to the my family and friends that on Friday, 12/17, my father became an angel. Since 2001, my father was living with the awful disease--Parkinson's Disease. Prior to that he was an auto mechanic who could bring the most down trodden of a car back to life with just a twist of a wrench. He was a huge fan of NASCAR and loved going to see a race. And let's not get started on car shows--loved them all no matter the size! He loved weird movies like "The Day The Earth Stood Still" and "Them". "Back to the Future" would drive him insane as he would see the wrong era of cars in the movie! And then there was his family. He had family far and wide--Florida and PA and maybe in NJ. He is survived by my mom, Marie, my brothers, Keith and Matt (he might be somewhere!), Me, his daughter, and his favorite grandson, Nick Marshall. My dad has a brother who lives in Florida with his wife, my Aunt Jeanne and their children and grandchildren. He also had a sister, Denise, who walked before him. She had 3 children who also have children themselves. (Apologies for not listing the FLA crew, but you are many!) The immediate family has decided not to have a service or funeral for my father, but instead am asking for a donation to the The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. It was part of the will that he would be donated to the research department so that he might be part of a cure that is so desperately needed. (You can use my father's name--John C. Marshall)
For those who remember my dad or had the pleasure of meeting him, many will probably say how he had the "dad jokes" for days. If you remember any of them, let me know. He had so many I can't remember them all.
Here are a few pictures of a man who rarely liked his photo taken. If you are treasured with a photo of my dad, please post it. Would love to see what pics you have.
