Ben R. Parson, 80, of Pittsgrove, NJ passed away quietly at home on Tuesday morning April 20, 2021. Ben was born in Plainfield, NJ and raised in Piscataway, NJ by Swedish and Finnish immigrant parents, who came to America via Ellis Island. He was a former resident of Plainsboro, NJ and Livermore, CA prior to moving to Pittsgrove , NJ in 2007. He was the son of the late Esther & Ben C. Parson. He was also pre-deceased by his sister Anita.
Amongst his many accomplishments, Ben earned a master's degree in electrical engineering at Rutgers University (NJ) and became an aerospace engineer during the field's heyday in the 1960's. Before retiring in 2007 with over 40 years of service, he developed the systems on board and supported the launches of countless meteorological satellites with Lockheed Martin, Martin Marietta, and RCA in collaboration with NASA and NOAA. He had a brilliant mind for engineering and was a mentor to younger engineers, often referred to as the “puzzle master” by his colleagues, on account of his reliable ability to troubleshoot and resolve any electrical engineering issue.
Ben worked tirelessly to provide for his family and was a kind, decent, and introspective man, with an ever-positive outlook and a witty, stealthy sense of humor. Despite his hardships with Parkinson disease, he never complained and retained hope. He is loved and missed more than he could ever fathom.
