Raised in Tribute:
$2048.00Elaine Freedman passed away on November 1, 2021. She battled Parkinson’s disease for 10 years, remaining lovingly devoted to her family even as she coped with the pain and debilitating symptoms of the “plus” form of Parkinson’s disease. She is survived by her husband, Harry, her son Steve and his wife Jennifer, her son Adam and his wife Kristi, and her grandchildren, Josie, Sadie, and Asher.
Elaine was compassionate, kind, and fun. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend, and she loved her family dearly. Even as her disease worsened, Elaine doted on her grandchildren, celebrated family milestones, and shared fond memories with loved ones.
She was born in Cumberland, Maryland, on June 1, 1950, the oldest of Cub and Catherine Crosten’s six children. Years older than her youngest brothers and sisters, she embraced being the big sister, even hosting her siblings when they visited her in Philadelphia where she worked as a newly registered nurse.
Elaine met Harry in Philadelphia where she worked as a nurse anesthetist and he as a doctor. They married and started a family in Laurel, Delaware. She left nursing temporarily to raise her children, returning later as a registered nurse when they were older.
Elaine devoted her life to caring for others, whether family, friends, or strangers. In lieu of flowers, Harry, Steve, and Adam are asking friends and loved ones to donate to the Michael J. Fox Foundation in tribute to Elaine.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $800 million in high-impact research funded to date.
