Papa Jerry was a man of deep faith, family, music, and love. There was nothing that brought him more joy than seeing all of his kids, grandkids, and great- grandkids together – with echoing laughter and an abundance of love dancing through the walls of ‘Grand and Papa’s house.’ Papa’s expertise and mastery as a writer, editor, author, and reporter was evident. His gift of storytelling through the eyes and hearts of those who lived those stories brought his words to life. Papa had an unwavering passion to observe, listen, and amplify the heart of each story he wrote. And most of all, my heart will always be full of Papa’s magnificent sounds of show tunes beaming from his grand piano, especially our favorite duet, “Meet Me in St. Louis.” We said goodbye to Papa on July 19th after his courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. In honor of Papa, proceeds from my candle company will be donated for Parkinson’s research. Donations in memory of Papa can also be sent directly through this page. I miss Papa so much, but I know his spirit is alive – I feel his presence, laughter, and joy all around us, especially through the music he loved.
