$451.50Stephen M. Balven, 67 , of Washington, MO passed away on September 28, 2021. Steve, son of the late Russel Balven and Jean nee Guidorzi, was born on April 10, 1954 in St. Louis. He received his education from the University of Missouri, with a Bachelors Degree in Journalism. On May 18, 1974, he was united in marriage to Nancy Gerling at the St. Peter’s Church in Washington.
Among his survivors are his wife Nancy Balven of Washington; two sons, Matt Balven from Phoenix, AZ and John Balven of St. Louis, MO; brother, Mark Balven and wife Lyn of Barnhart, MO; grandchildren, Jack, Angel, and Hazel Balven.
Steve enjoyed playing sports, including basketball and tennis. He was a dedicated father to his sons and always available to coach youth sports teams.
He lived with Parkinson’s for nearly 25 years. While the disease took his mobility and eventually his life, Steve lived with grace and kindness and maintained a positive attitude until the end.
