$1000.00Kenneth A. Hecken, died on September 8, 2021 of Parkinson’s Disease. He lived in Warren, CT and also had a home in Longboat Key, FL.
He was born July 26, 1931, attended Garden City, NY public schools and graduated from Cornell University in 1953.
He served as a Lieutenant of the Sixth Fleet in the Navy from 1953 to 1955.
He began his career in insurance at the Travelers Insurance Company in 1955. He joined the insurance brokerage firm Johnson & Higgins (now Marsh & McLennan Companies) in 1961. He was Chairman and CEO of Willcox Reinsurance Intermediaries a subsidiary of J&H from 1983 to 1986. He was then Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Johnson & Higgins until his retirement in 1991. Kenneth’s expertise in the industry was sought by many organizations. He served as President of the National Association of Insurance Brokers, Vice President of the National Association of Casualty & Surety Agents and Director of the New York Insurance Exchange.
In addition to his leadership roles in the insurance industry he also served for many years on the Board of Directors of New Milford Hospital in CT and on the vestry and as Warden at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Washington CT., as well on behalf of Lake Waramaug Task Force, the American Cancer Society, the United Way and served on the board of the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
Kenneth was devoted to his family and is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Audrey, three daughters; Cynthia Hecken, Susan Gardner, and Melissa Curtin, and two grandchildren; Christopher and Alexander Gardner.
