Raised in Tribute:
$1458.65In 2005, at just 44 years old, Tom was diagnosed with young onset Parkinson’s Disease. He was in the prime of his life with a thriving business and was also serving as Assistant Chief of the Chisago City Fire Dept. Tom and Liz had been married 17 years and had 3 wonderful kids who were just 16, 13 and 11 years old.
From the very beginning of his diagnosis, Tom didn’t want sympathy or special treatment and vowed to never give up. He has pushed himself and has remained positive and hopeful. He continues to rely on his faith in God and support from his family and friends.
Although trapped in a body that no longer works for him, he still tinkers in the shop and enjoys visiting with people that stop by. He was forced to resign from CCFD and had to stop driving about 6 years ago. With the help from his kids and their friends, Tom has been able to continue hunting, fishing and gardening, which he really enjoys!
16 years after being diagnosed, although needing a walker or scooter to get around, Tom continues to fight with every ounce of energy and strength that he has. They have exhausted all medical treatments that would be effective for Tom and his family remains hopeful that someday soon they’ll find a cure for Parkinson’s. Thank you for your donation in Tom’s honor to celebrate his 60th birthday!
