Raised in Tribute:
$625.00Richard "Dick" Dunford passed away on April 15th, 2017. Dick defied the odds by living with Parkinson's disease for over 20 years, and continued with that same sense of determination for a month in hospice. During that time, he was able to be in the familiarity of his own bed and visiting with loved ones.
Dick was a storyteller, an entrepreneur, a builder and a maker. People loved Dick's stories about traveling the world and fixing planes in the Air Force, and the time he renovated an school old bus and drove his friends across county. On his paperwork for Hospice of the Valley, he listed his "hand-crafted barbecues" as his most cherished accomplishment - we are sure his children are "number two" on the list! Because of him, his sons Michael and Nicholas are the determined, enterprising, and curious people they are.
His family and friends are sad but ok, and are glad he is peaceful after so many years of battling Parkinson's. The family appreciates any donations made in his honor, to help fight and find a cure for this difficult disease.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $2 billion in high-impact research funded to date.
