Raised in Tribute:
$1240.00Dr. Henry "Hank" Dupree passed away on Thursday, April 6th after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease. Hank will be remembered by his family for his paternal love, by his friends for his zest for life and sense of adventure, and by the dental community for his care and compassion for his patients.
Hank was born in Little Rock, Arkansas and spent his youth in Phoenix, Arizona graduating from North Phoenix High School in 1954. He remained in Arizona to attend Arizona State University where he graduated with honors in 1959. Upon graduating from ASU, he then attended dental school at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. After receiving his DDS, Hank served as a dental officer in the United States Navy. Hank then moved to Northern California to begin his private dental practice, where he became a cornerstone in the community for 40 years and pioneered work in Implant Dentistry.
Hank is survived by his three sons, Daniel Alan (Rolly), Kenneth Reid (Dana) and Michael Henry (Alicia) Dupree. Hank's daughter, Lynda June Grijalva passed away in 2007. His loving grandchildren include Natalie June, Timothy Cid, Sophie Brenna, Stephen Reid, Dan Henry, Joey Allen, Chase Henry and Logan John. His generous loving spirit will be missed by all of his family.
Hank led a life that was as full as any you'll find. He was a son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, student, professor, doctor, dentist, patient, naval officer, business owner, skier, golfer, world traveler, foodie & a driver of really cool cars. He did more, saw more & loved more in one lifetime than most people would get to in 3 lifetimes.
Parkinson's Disease crept into his life about 12 years ago. We knew he was up to the challenge, as he had brushed off both Melanoma & Abdominal Cancer already as if they were dust on his shoulder. He battled the disease like the warrior he was for over a decade. He was constantly dealing with the changing medications & neurologist visits as the tremor spells became increasingly fierce and brought on more ailments. He's as stubborn as they get - and should've probably passed several times before this but he had no quit in him.
We've all learned more than we ever cared to know about this visible, punishing & debilitating disease over the past decade. And know that we want to contribute whatever we can to stopping it.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $2 billion in high-impact research funded to date.
