$608.00It is with great sadness that the family of Jack Roy Lawrence announces his peaceful passing on Monday January 2, 2017 after a 20-year battle with Parkinsons Disease.
Born in Pawnee, Oklahoma, Jack received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum & Geological Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1958. While there he was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity and graduated in 1961 with a JD from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. He received his Army commission through ROTC and served in the Army Reserves Judge Advocate Division, retiring as a captain in the Army JAG Corps.
Jack practiced law for many decades in the Oklahoma City area. He savored the opportunity to help thousands of area residents obtain access to affordable housing through his work building the Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency and serving as Chief Counsel for its board of trustees. A devout Catholic, Jack also served for years as General Counsel for the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City from the early 1990 until his health prompted his retirement. Jack and his wife Gail were both members of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, Southwestern USA Lieutenancy and cherished their involvement.
Jack will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 53 years, Gail; his three children and their spouses, Lisa Lawrence Gordon and Jeff Gordon of Austin, Texas; John and Karin Lawrence of San Antonio, Texas; and Sarah Lawrence of Oklahoma City; and his four grandchildren, Halle and Gage Paul Gordon, and Ella and Dean Lawrence. Jack is survived by his sister, Joanne Turner of Cleveland OK and Treca Pritner (Jerry Pritner) Kansas City, KS and his sister-in-law, Becky Roark of Lubbock, TX. He was also very fond of his niece Lynnice Taylor of Fort Worth, TX, and nephews Robert Turner of Norman, OK, Dwight Turner of Cleveland, OK, Jeff Pritner of Kansas City, KS and John, Michael and Sam Roark of Lubbock, TX. Jack also enjoyed spending time with his great-nephews and great-niece, namesake Jack Roark, Emily Roark and Luke Roark.
The Funeral Mass on Tuesday, January 10 at 11am will be held at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 2400 W Hefner Road, Oklahoma City. Memorial donations to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson Research (1-800-708-7644 or donate by mail: Donation Processing, The Michael J. Fox Foundation, Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014) or St. Eugene Catholic Church (2400 W Hefner Road, Oklahoma City, OK 73120) are encouraged in lieu of flowers.
