This page is to honor Captain Gerald R. Harwood, Ret. He served in the Marine Corps for twenty-three years, including active duty in Korea and Vietnam. He received the Purple Heart during his service in Korea. “Gerry” was married 65 years to the love of his life, “Posy.” and was the father of five , grandfather to fourteen and great- grandfather to two. After retiring from the Marine Corps, he moved to Florida with his family to start his second career as a master electrician, AC repairman and operate his own lawn sprinkler business. His spare time was spent with his family, repairing anything that was broken in our homes, traveling in his RV and reading anything having to do with history and the military. He loved talking history and getting into discussions on historical details. He loved staying busy and was never happy to just relax. He valiantly fought the effects of Parkinson’s for over ten years. On July 30, 2020, surrounded by his loving family, he succumbed to this disease. He is greatly missed and his untimely death leaves an empty place in all of our hearts.
