My mother was never one to let life get her down. So when she was diagnosed in her mid fifties, she took it bravely as she did everything else. She continued to work full time at the State Troopers barracks as a clerk and spending hours with the rescue greyhound rescue society withe her two beloved greyhounds. Then the day came we both dreaded. Her independence was being taken away by the disease. I moved her to an apartment close by me but the disease progressed so rapidly that within six months she went from Assisted Living to Nursing Home. She was well-loved by her fellow residents as well as the caretakers. They called her"golden." Her doctor even agreed at the end that she was valiant in her fight. Miss you and love you one more time than you can say Mom.
