Rosalia Armesto, formerly of Tarrytown, New York, passed peacefully in her home on October 2, 2016. She was 88. Mrs. Armesto was born on March 17, 1928 to Secundino Garcia Gonzalez and Avelina Gonzalez Ares and grew up in Villafranca del Bierzo, Spain, moving to the with her husband Antonio in 1956.
She was a devoted wife to Antonio Armesto of Tarrytown, NY, who predeceased her in 2010. She was a loving sister to Maria Garcia Gonzales de Cuadrado (Roque) of Sleepy Hollow, NY and Carmen Garcia Gonzalez (Rafael) of Villafranca del Bierzo, Spain. She was also a loving mother to Rosa Venditti (David) of Briarcliff Manor, NY, and Yvette Potter (Neil) of Annandale, NJ. Her grandchildren and family were her life and she was an incredibly loving and devoted grandmother to Lauren, Julia, and Katherine Venditti, of Briarcliff Manor, NY, and Brittany and Ryan Potter, of Annandale, NJ, all of whom brought her so much joy and contentment. She was also incredibly devoted to 'goodies,' particularly Boston Cream Donuts.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Wednesday at Coffey Funeral Home in Tarrytown, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 6, at 10:30 AM at Transfiguration Church in Tarrytown. Her funeral will be immediately following at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Sleepy Hollow, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research , Church St. Station, PO Box 780, New York, NY 10008.
