Raised in Tribute:
$1887.01Dhun Pratap Parmar passed away on Monday, May 24 at 2:07am. She was loved dearly and lived a full life - as she often said a life bigger than she could have ever imagined being a little Parsi girl from Indore, India
Born on October 1, 1938 to Nariman Contractor and Seherbanu Marfatia, Dhun was the eldest of five. She knew her mind, was quiet determined and a little feisty from the beginning. Life brought her from Indore to Ahmedabad in India where she met Pratap Kanjibhai Parmar. A conservative Zoroastrian woman marrying the eldest son of a Rajput Hindu family caused quite a commotion on September 28, 1964.
They went on to work hard and enjoy life fully in Bihar, Bombay, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi and New Jersey. Their love of seeing, understanding and embracing the world led them to travel frequently and make many diverse, deep friendships along the way. They aimed to instill that same appreciation and thirst for knowledge, inquisitiveness, and acceptance in their children and extended families.
Dhun was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2015 and while she dealt with its consequences, she was determined to push through and continue to live life to the fullest. Her husband helped her with everything from dressing to eating to even learning to cook a few things to help her on bad days. But they also continued to enjoy their lives together with each other and then eventually with support.
After her “Darling” Pratap passed on March 30, 2019, she felt lost without her companion and love of 56+ years. She was more than ready to go be with him and we all now pray for their unity and peace.
