$600.00If you are visiting this page, you likely have a personal connection with Dr. Foster through Burris or some other means, but I want to tell you a little bit more about Ken before I tell you about the last 25 years of his life.
Dr Foster was a life-long educator serving roles as both a teacher and administrator in several locations. Kenneth spent the final 27 years of his career in education as the Assistant Principal of Burris Laboratory School, which is the training ground for education students studying at Ball State University in Muncie, IN.
He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in mathematics from York College and his Masters and EdD degrees in Education from the University of Nebraska.
Kenneth was a Navy Veteran of WW II and served his country with pride and honor.
Dr. Foster also served his community as a member of the Indiana Civil Defense Board and the Chairman of Trustees at the United Methodist Church in Theodosia, MO.
Kenneth had several passions that occupied his free time, including building and flying model airplanes, restoring classic Mustangs, creating stained glass windows, camping and fixing just about everything that needed it.
Dr Foster will be remembered by his innate ability to coach and improve people as individuals by simultaneously being firm yet gentle; formidable yet kind; and challenging their fears and capabilities while encouraging them to succeed. His balanced approach to leadership, coaching and teaching gave his children, students and colleagues the tools and confidence to grow more than they had thought imaginable.
After retiring in 1990, he retired to "lake living" with his wife of 67 years, Bonnie, at his place on Bull Shoals Lake in Theodosia, MO. He had been exhibiting abnormal physical symptoms and after cajoling from Bonnie, he decided to get them checked out. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease shortly thereafter, as was Bonnie.
Mom remains largely asymptomatic, but Dad's health declined slowly over the next 25 years until his death on July 20th, 2016. In the end, health problems landed Dr. Foster in the hospital and his inability to exercise allowed his Parkinson's to wrack his body to the point at which he could not recover.
Dr. Foster touched so many lives in his very full life, which is why you've visited this page. I encourage you to give, so that other wonderful people can live better lives because of this foundation's work.
Thank you for your consideration!
