Raised in Tribute:
$470.00On the afternoon of July 5th, Daniel Augustus Leaphart went home to be with Jesus. He was a soldier, a scholar, a teacher, a friend and an inspiration to many. To his family, he was the most extraordinary husband, father and Opa we could have ever asked for. It was an honor for so many to know Dan, but it was truly a gift to be loved by him as his family was.
Dan was a veteran of the United States Army and retired after 24 years of honorable service. It was during his two tours in Vietnam, that he was exposed to conditions that later resulted in a fight against Parkinson's disease and prostate cancer. He faced both with great courage, strength and grace.
Following his retirement from the Army he worked in the defense industry for several years. After what we like to call his final retirement, he even spent time as a substitute teacher, educating and entertaining students in his hometown of Charleston, SC.
In addition to his career in the Army and beyond, he is best known for his ability to speak kindly and thoughtfully to anyone he met, his voracious love of learning, his servant heart that led him to help anyone who needed it and a life that was spent pursuing the very heart of God.
Thank you for supporting Dan and contributing to the ongoing fight against Parkison's!
