Phillip Griffin was a beloved husband, dad, papaw and friend to all who knew him. He was raised and lived his entire life in the Appalachian mountains of eastern Kentucky. He was a dedicated and skilled welder. We believe the job he loved to do contributed deeply to the disease that took him from us.
Phillip suffered for several years with Parkinson’s Disease and in the later years also developed Dementia. He was cared for by his loving wife, Brenda of 42 years.
Phillip was a loving husband and father to a son and daughter. He was the greatest dad ever (said Kristy). But as most grandparents will testify, the grandchildren were his true pride and joy. He had 3 grandsons and a granddaughter. He loved them all fiercely.
Phillip enjoyed being a welder so much it was almost like a hobby that he actually got paid to do. Besides welding, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, watching a good race, gardening and talking to folks. Phillip made friends with everyone he talked with.
Phillip is deeply missed by his family, community and all who knew him. Life will never be the same without his big smile and sneaky giggle.
We support the Michael J Fox Foundation in hopes that other patients will not suffer as Phillip and other families will not have to watch this disease rob them of their loved one long before time is over.
Our beloved might not have been cured, but we fight and press on fighting for others. Phillip would be humbled and touched to know his fight and legacy continues on.
We love you,
