Raised in Tribute:
$218.00Betty Haggard loved life and cherished her family and friends. She lived her life as an independent, strong, loving and caring person. Throughout her life she was active with junior and senior women's circles and the Methodist Church community. She loved the sense of community and supporting others in times of sorrow and celebrating with them in times of joy. Bridge nights with the "bridge ladies" were precious to her. Betty loved to play golf, watch baseball games, was a member of a wilderness hiking club in Oregon, and enjoyed daily walks in her neighborhood, rain or shine. She also loved to read and would read several books every week.
As Parkinson's disease advanced, it robbed her of everything she loved to do. She could not walk, could not enjoy the outdoors, could not play bridge or golf or enjoy a baseball game. She could not read and had difficulty thinking. Ultimately, Betty could not control her throat muscles so she could not eat or drink anything. She was raked with physical pain and the psychological pain of knowing what was happening as Parkinson's disease took away everything she loved, with the exception of her family and friends who surrounded her with the love and caring that she had allows provided to others.
In the name of Betty Haggard's blessed memory, please contribute to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, dedicated to eliminating the scourge of Parkinson's disease in our lifetime.
