$1981.50Our dad, Jack Ellis, was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2004. After many years of doctor visits and medical research, it turns out our dad actually has a similar disease to Parkinson's, but not exactly, it's called Multiple System Atrophy, the parkinsonian type (MSA-P). Our dad was only 55 when he was diagnosed, the life expectancy of someone of this rare disease is actually about 7 years, and our dad, our fighter of a dad, managed the disease for 12 years, and passed away from complications on February 29, 2016. We hope that any person with Parkinson's that is not reaping benefits from their medication will inquire about MSA to try to make their life more manageable.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $800 million in high-impact research funded to date.
