$51.50What would mother, Elizabeth, like written about her? What an impossible task! Some details of her life would include an English professor, a French teacher, a mother of three, grand mére to 15(+). She loved to travel.
Even after her Parkinson's diagnosis, she traveled the world. She taught English in Asia, went on an African safari, traveled to every continent except Antarctica. In some ways, she was in an enigma—how could one person's impact be so boundless and yet intimate? She could be traveling the world one day and then playing with grandchildren on the floor the next.
Parkinson's, it's a journey no one wants to go on, and yet she didn't complain about it. It's a journey no one wanted to see her take. However, watching her taught me and others how to be strong, enjoy life, and not let issues define you.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $800 million in high-impact research funded to date.
