Growing up, like most little girls, my dad was a real life Super Man. He could do no wrong in my eyes, nor could I in his. He was the strongest, but most gentle man in the world. He wiped my tears when I cried, taught me how a man should treat me, and proved his love to me in more ways that I can count. Even when I lost my way, my father never gave up on me. He prayed for me and gave me the wisdom to find myself again. As some of you know (and some of you don't), my father was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2015. Thankfully, he is in the very early stages of the disease and his specialist says that it could stay that way for the rest of his life. The true struggle with Parkinson's Disease is the lack of research for medication, a cure, and even diagnosing a patient. It is a very difficult process to be diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease because it is literally diagnosed through process of elimination. Words cannot tell you the emotional roller coaster that goes on for the patient as well as the family throughout the diagnoses process. Then once the diagnosis is made, the uncertainty of the disease, it's progression timeline, and just sheer fear of the unknown can torment a patient and their family daily. Since his diagnosis, I have done infinite amounts of research, trying to prepare for what is to come or not come. We really don't know. That uncertainty is earth shattering for patients and their families. Because of that, I would like you all to donate to this cause so that my family and other families can hopefully find a certainty in the near future. This donation is not only the greatest gift you could ever give me, but also a tribute to the man who helped make me who I am today. Thank you so much for your gifts!
