$1050.00Mr. Herman Webb Hopper, Jr., 81, formerly of Eden, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, January 5, 2016 at Jacob's Creek Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Central Christian Church.
Mr. Hopper was born in Washington, DC on October 1, 1934, a son of Herman Webb Hopper, Sr. and Maude Holt Hundley, both deceased. He was a graduate of Morehead High School, Class of 1953. He spent 12 years in the Air Force and worked for Aramco in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia for 6 years. He retired from what is now NC Information Technology Services (ITS) for the Department of Administration in Raleigh, NC in 2001. He was a faithful Christian and member of Central Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Steven Kent Hopper; and his grandson, Christopher Ian Hopper.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Hopper; his children, Deirdre “De” Hopper, Stephanie Slaughter and husband Bobby, Trevor Hopper and wife Dawn, Jonathan Hopper and wife Jana; his grandchildren, Skylar Hopper, Patrick Billings, Ryan Billings and wife Sarah, Meghan Hopper and Ethan Hopper; his great grandchildren, Christopher Billings and Harley Slaughter; and two very special sisters-in-law, Irene Taylor and Cindy Phillips.
The family will receive friends at the home of De Hopper, 117 Brammer Road in Eden, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Disease, in memory of Herman Hopper, Jr., while visiting this memorial page or by mailing donations to PO Box 5014 Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014.
