In loving memory of Dr. James L. Vaughn, March 2, 1934 to March 3, 2021.
He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather of fourteen, and great-grandfather of five. He earned his doctorate in Microbiology/Bacteriology with a minor in Invertebrate Zoology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison Campus. His career began in Sault St. Marie, Ontario with the Canadian Department of Forestry from 1961-1965 and followed that with 34 years with the US Department of Agriculture in Beltsville, Maryland. During his time at the USDA, he helped develop a cell culture line that is being used today in medical research (COVID-19) and in insect cell research. After his retirement from the USDA, he moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where he served as a docent at the Tulsa Aquarium, attended college football and basketball games, the ballet and theater, and supported the Tall Grass Prairies. He lived there until his death. He was a wise, gracious, loving, steadfast man who loved his family and friends, loved traveling, camping, fishing, history, science, nature, football (Green Bay Packers Cheesehead for life) and jazz music.
