$407.50Ronald E. Gelvin was born March 16, 1947 in Ada, Oklahoma. Ron was a graduate of McHenry High School in McHenry, Illinois where he was active in many sports. He lettered in football, track, and wrestling and was runner up in the Illinois State Championship. He was also a proud alumni of Oklahoma State University. After graduation, he followed his passion for animal science and became a Herdsman at Ogeechee Farms in Fairland, Oklahoma.
Always looking for an adventure, Ron moved his family to Florida and worked as a manager for Stuart Ranch in Bartow, Florida. After raising his family he decided it was time for another adventure and moved north to North Carolina where he was Executive Secretary of the American Dairy Goat Association and later retired from the North Carolina Nursery and Landscaping Association.
He found his home in Willow Springs, North Carolina where he spent quality time with his loving wife, Beverly and their many animals.
He was a loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle who was loved by many. Ron is survived by his wife Beverly, 3 daughters Heather Horton, Juliana Caldwell and husband Bryan, Cody Lewis and husband Jason. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren Raley Horton, Samantha and Sophia Caldwell, Tanner and Carson Lewis, his father Odell Gelvin and wife Betty, and two sisters Linda Wilmoth and husband Steve, Susan Spencer and husband Jr., and several nieces and nephews.
Although Ron was diagnosed with Parkinson's, he never let it slow him down. His passion for life overshadowed his physical hardships and allowed him to find joy in the life he made for himself.
