Raised in Tribute:
$850.00 Richard “Dick” Allen McGowan was a husband, father, in-law, musician, and professor. He made his living as a professor of music history and theory. He played regularly in high school bands and in a Dixieland band when he was young. His interest in and love of music lasted throughout his life.
In addition to his academic life, he attended to family, friends, church, and travel. With his wife Linda, he helped raise two children, David and Jamie. Dick lived the last twenty years of his life in Greenville, North Carolina. He was known for his quick but dry humor, steadfastness, generous, and kind heart.
He first started to have visible symptoms around 2005 and was formally diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2006. He passed away at his home under the care of his family and hospice help on October 20, 2015 at the age of 81.
