My mom, Cathy Lee has been an inspiration to so many by her courage, love, support and kindness. She was diagnosed with Parkinson's last year and even though her symptoms have worsened she keeps on going strong everyday and helping others in the process. She volunteers her life to helping others. She has created programs in our community to help better the lives of kids of all ages, such as the Bridge House Brats. This volunteer program located on our local canal has been the upmost inspiration of our town. Their mission is to use the resources given to them, enhance the quality of life of all who participate in and or take advantage of their efforts. They have developed an ongoing program for the youth of the area that teaches the concept of service, co-operative work effort and individual growth. They offer diverse hospitality services to tourists and town folks in an effort to increase business for our local stores and restaurants. They have created and maintained a bridge house museum for all to enjoy our heritage. They host events for community growth and entertainment. They work to keep streets, the canal and pathways clean and healthy. They help serve the village officials in any capacity when called upon.
This truly amazing program has touched the hearts of people around the world, each summer there will be boaters from other countries and states that journey to the Bridge house just to meet the Bridge House Brats. Even after all this my mom also runs several fundraisers for the homeless and created a volunteer program for the kids to help out with the local nursing homes. She also volunteers at our local high school during the school season helping kids prepare for collage, hosting the prom & dances and also running the student council. She is an inspiration on life and my hero.
