This tribute page is for my remarkable Uncle Raymond. He died September 18, 2015, at 93 years young with a 36 year history with Parkinson's disease. His Parkinson's disease did not stop him from having a full life.
He was the middle son of Hetty and Phillip Krinker of Glasgow, Scotland. This Jewish family of six consisted of my mother Doris, deceased, who was two years younger, Uncle Maurice, deceased, the oldest, and the youngest sister, Sadie. He married Margaret "Meg" Eileen in 1958. He became a CPA for the global best-in-class Price Waterhouse accounting firm and my Aunt Meg ran their many households. He opened Price Waterhouse's São Paulo, Brazil "beachhead" office and it was there that they raised their two sons, Phillip and David. Phillip lives minutes from his mother in São Paulo and has two children George and Lara. David lives in Orlando, Florida with his wife, Jody. They have two girls, Lauren and Leah. His children and grandchildren brought pride to his life. His sister Sadie lives in Ranana, Israel with her husband, Monty and their children and grandchildren.
Uncle Raymond and Aunt Meg received noteworthy awards from the United Kingdom and the Queen of England. At the close of 1976 Uncle Raymond received the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire or OBE, an award granted by the government of the United Kingdom and awarded in person, by the queen to individuals who have performed excellent work in arts, sciences, public services and charitable efforts. Uncle Raymond and Aunt Meg were instrumental in the 2002 British In Brazil exhibit in São Paulo and a subsequent book which promoted bilateral trade and investment between the two counties. They had the honor of hosting Prince Phillip among many of the other dignitaries.
But, of course I will cherish the memories of Uncle Raymond when he came to visit when I was a school girl to our Jackson Heights, New York apt. and told me to pick out my favorite toy from a local toy store called "Toy City" or when he brought a special doll from Brazil that was a peasant doll that flipped upside down to become a princess. I was privileged to visit my uncle and aunt in their beautiful home in São Paulo during a high school winter break. Or, when he and my aunt visited my Venice, California apt. during my twenties while they were touring California. He and my aunt made special efforts to be at all the reunions at our families bar/bat mitzvah events on the east and west coasts. His memory will be etched in my heart, as it will in the hearts of his beloved family.
