It is with heartfelt sadness that the family announces the passing of “Papa”, Loel Fain on January 27, 2021 after a long courageous fight with Parkinson’s disease. Throughout the past 12 years, he always showed much patience and fortitude. He never lost hope in finding a cure.

Papa’s most favorite people are his loving, devoted wife, Nancy, his two son’s Greg and Derek, and his daughter Valerie Lewis along with their spouses and children. Loel is survived by his brother, Cecil Fain.

Loel's 10 grandchildren have many fond memories of fishing, football games, M&Mer hunts, See’s Lollipops and his generous spirit of giving. Christmas time at the Fain house was an extra special time of year. His devotion to his family was unparalleled.

Loel was born in Lee’s Creek, Arkansas on August 22, 1935. The family moved to Susanville, CA in 1938 where Loel graduated from high school. He worked in the mill and woods to put himself through college, graduating from California State University, Chico. He was an accountant in San Francisco and became a Certified Public Accountant. His experience in the timber industry led to a successful career as a timber and power specialist with the IRS in Redding, CA and Portland, OR. He was sent to Washington DC to help write the tax code in these areas. He retired in Coronado, California where he was a member of the State Board of Accountancy.

Loel and Nancy enjoyed living out their retirement in Coronado, California blocks away from the beach and their precious daughter’s family. They were grateful to take several wonderful vacations and many, many trips to see their grandchildren.

Loel will be remembered for his sense of humor, his generosity and his deep love of family.
