Raised in Tribute:
$670.00Paul Gordon Blazel was born on December 14, 1946 in Stanley, Wisconsin. He graduated from Stanley High School in 1964 and from Eau Claire Vocational School. Paul joined the United States Navy and was stationed in San Diego. Paul proudly served in the Vietnam War working as a Storekeeper onboard USS Fort Marion, USS Cadmus, and ashore at Camp Tien-Sha.
After serving, Paul married his high school friend, Joan Stangl in 1973. They settled and raised their 3 children, Jennifer, Amy, and Matthew. He was proud of his children and supported them to reach their dreams. Paul worked for Central Storage Warehouse and Premium Waters, with his brothers and friends. Paul was an avid volunteer in his church community.
Paul was passionate about model railroads and building them with his grandchildren, wood working, canoeing, hiking outdoors with Joan, deer hunting with his brothers-in-law, and fishing. He could often be found grilling brats and chicken, making air-popped popcorn, and working in the yard and on garage projects.
Paul passed away on January 14, 2021, after his long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Paul was diagnosed with early on-set PD, while in his early 50's. Even with this diagnosis, he strived to live each day to the fullest with the people and doing the things that meant the most to him. He never complained about what was happening to him, instead he faced it head on by trying new drugs and being among the first in the state of WI to get a DBS stimulator. Paul's courage and strength with Parkinson's Disease made him a hero to all who were blessed to be in his presence and forever in our memory.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today.
