My grandfather, "Jack" Townsend, has lived with Parkinson’s disease since he was 63 years old. He has had it now for close to 20 years. I chose the Michael J. Fox Foundation for my Community Organization brochure because I want to help my grandfather and others like him that have this incurable disease. Many people don’t know who Michael J. Fox is, or what life with Parkinson’s disease is like. This Foundation does a great job of raising awareness about Parkinson’s disease and bringing communities together for a common goal. It's is a unique and original organization and I would to help educate people about this disease.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $800 million in high-impact research funded to date.
