Smiles.
That’s the way life goes,
It’s never what we chose,
Now your pain never shows,
As I hand you this rose.
Expected yet unexpected,
Your eternal peace.
Words always stay unsaid,
But these memories will not
You always beam and gleam,
Handshake and wave in between,
You go to India in your dreams,
And come back for ice cream.
Souvenirs scattered throughout the world,
Reminders in all six senses:
Noodles, sayings, smiles, and more,
I view life with your bright lenses.
Everyone acts with organization,
Humans have been prepared for this;
I feel we’re not the only ones,
Together, we will reminisce
So much love in so much pain,
We wish you’d won the fight.
Nothing will ever be the same,
But everything’ll be alright
Love you, my friend

We love you and miss you Dada. He was our good buddy. While his death may be the end of his physical life with us, the spiritual connection we have with him will always live within us. I don’t think of death as the end but as a change from physical to spiritual. He is walking with us, he is with us when we go to the movies (which he loved), he is listening when we sing his favorite songs, he is with us whenever we have dessert (which he called sweetdish and was his favorite!), and he is always looking after us. He was our good buddy and he will always be our good buddy.
We miss the big smile on his face. These little things he used to do, like his expressions at the dinner table, are memories that we will cherish always. As we also say, he had a very resounding and confident voice. I will miss listening to him talk and video-calling with him. He had a few routine sayings. He would ask when I was coming home and when he got the answer and figured out when I was coming, he would say his famous words, "chal hum tera wait karenge" which means "okay we will wait for you". His famous line which we all loved so much.
There have been so many wonderful memories we have with Dada. A very important thing he taught us is how to live life, how to enjoy life. In the 25 years I have known him, he lived a very cheerful and positive life. He taught me how to play card games and chess, he taught us how to enjoy good music and movies, and through the little things he did and said, he taught us the importance of caring for our family. We are all so, so blessed to have had him in our lives for so many beautiful years.
