We met about 20 years ago, introduced by a mutual friend because we both had PD. Pete owned a Greek restaurant called the OLIVE TREE; It featured things like tarmuosalata, spanikopita, mussaka, leg of lamb and for dessert, one of the items on the menu was homemade vanilla ice cream with baklava.
Our friendship grew and we frequented his wonderful reastaurant. He was a true chef, my husband Chris- who was also into cooking would go to the Rochester, NY Farmers Market where a lot of fresh foods were sold. Everything there was fresh, everything from scratch. He would call Pete and would ask him what was avaiable, price etc. Pete would tell him what he wanted. and then Chris would purchase the items and return to the restaurant, this became a ha;ppy ritual. Every Saturday morning. After the shopping was over, Pete would teach him how to make some of the dishes [including avgolemono / lemon chicken soup.] Once food prep wasd done, they had wine & lunch.
Pete was a wondeful, kind man.
To this day, my husband willl make one of those fantastic dishes. We think of Pete and we smile.
