Our dear mother passed away November 2nd, at age 92. She was the last of her generation, being the baby of her family. She was the youngest child of Danish immigrants who became some of the earliest grape & raisin growers in the California Central Valley, along with being some of the earliest members of the Sun Maid cooperative of growers. Mom & Dad, George, led a happy farming life always surrounded by numerous friends & family members in their activities. Miriam suffered from dementia in her later years, another brain disease. The reason for her request to support the Michael J. Fox Foundation is due to her eldest son, Kirby's, struggles with early onset Parkinson's. Kirby is going on 25+ years living with Parkinson's. It took away his ability to really develop his livelihood beginning in his mid adult years. Today he lives in a skilled nursing facility, dependent on others for everything. Thank you for your support.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $800 million in high-impact research funded to date.
