Mary Hughey Wilson was my sister-in-law. As described by her son, she had many wonderful attributes but one very important one was she was ferocious in life. She was diagnosed with Parkinsons at a young age . We all witnessed her courage in facing Parkinsons from treatments with medicine through DBS treatment. While fighting this disease she lost her husband, My bother. Now 13 years after losing her husband she has now rejoined him in heaven. But in that 13 years despite how Parkinsons ravaged her body, she fought ferociously to live independently. Although we wish that there had been a cure in time for Mary, we pray that soon many that suffer with this disease will live to see it's cure.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $800 million in high-impact research funded to date.
