Joan Montross died peacefully Saturday afternoon, July 25th, after a long struggle with Parkinson's, surrounded by her family at Meadow Ridge in Redding, Connecticut. Joan grew up in Wellesley, Massachusetts and graduated from Duke University where she was elected Phi/Beta Kappa. She had a successful decorating business in Bedford, New York for many years and was also a consultant with Carlisle. She was president of the Bedford Garden Club, Chairman of St. Matthew's Church flower committee and Chairman of the House committee and Board Member at John Jay Homestead. She was also Chairman of the Parent's Council at Rippowan School. She loved literature, gardening, cooking and her family. She leaves two children; Franklin Montross IV and Lee Wheeler-Shanker and six grandchildren; Whit, Scott and Nina Montross and Perrin, Oliver and Emma Wheeler. A memorial service is planned for 11:00am September 8th at St. Matthew's Church in Bedford, New York. In lieu of flowers please send donations to The Michael J.
