Gerald (Jerry) Skullerud was born June 20, 1943, and was raised in Seattle, Washington. He died August 17, 2020, of Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia.
Jerry’s father, Jack, was an engineer at Boeing and developed a love of planes in Jerry. His mother, Marjorie, was an excellent cook and homemaker, raising three sons.
Jerry is a University of Washington graduate (1965) and member of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity. The UW is where he met the love of his life, Karen, and later proposed to her at the top of the Space Needle! They were married in 1967, at the close of Jerry’s service in the Air Force.
At the end of his service years, Jerry returned to school, graduating the top five of his class with a JD from Willamette Law School, Salem, OR. He and Karen then moved to NYC, where Jerry attended NYU’s acclaimed LLM program, and Jerry focused on International Law, where he again was at the top of his class.
The two returned to the west coast, choosing beautiful San Diego as their new home. Jerry worked his way through a couple of CPA firms to eventually form his own CPA firm with a dynamite staff. Jerry worked long hours for his clients. Everyone loved and appreciated Jerry.
Once settled in San Diego, Jerry and Karen started their family of two sons - Blake and Clint. Family life became the focus for the next 20 years, as Karen taught, and Jerry built up his CPA practice.
The following phase of Jerry’s life was the addition of granddaughters Brooke, and Brynn, as well as daughter-in-law, Layne.
Once Jerry and Karen were retired, traveling by car, plane, boat, and train became the norm for the two. They managed to see all of the and much of the world, visiting all seven continents! Their sons growing up, the granddaughters, and many friends were part of their travel memories. Ask to see their travel books and slides sometime!
Thank you for being a part of Jerry's incredible life.
