Conrado Buguis Paulo, 79, passed away on June 20, 2015 from complications due to his long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born on March 12, 1936 in the Philippines in the province of Cabuyao, Laguna to parents Jose and Julita Paulo. Known by the nickname, “Rading,” he was the second oldest of five siblings -- Rosauro Paulo, Corazon Arceo, Joselita Agaran, and Rosalinda Bulaong – and outlived them all. Conrado studied architecture at the University of Santo Tomas and served for several years as Head of Campus Maintenance at the prestigious American International School Manila before immigrating to the United States in 1973. He and his wife, Josephine, settled in Whittier, CA and for almost 20 years he worked as Deputy Registrar for California’s Contractors State Licensing Board.

Among Conrado’s proudest moments were swearing in as a U.S. citizen in 1980 and seeing each of his four daughters graduate from college. A deeply spiritual man and a devout Catholic, he was a father figure to a myriad of cousins, a connoisseur of movies, a voracious reader, and a lover of singing, bongo playing, dancing, drawing, and throwing parties. Conrado also enjoyed creating “crafts” in his toolshed and “fixing” things around the house (much to the chagrin of his wife and children). He was a wise, devoted, generous, and loving jolly jokester who’d do anything to earn a laugh from his family and friends.

Conrado is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dr. Josephine Paulo; daughters Annalee Paulo-Hensley and her husband, Tom; Kiyra Denise Henderson, whose husband Mike is deceased; Joy Paulo and her fiancé, Andrew Punsalan; Marie Paulo Arche and her husband, Jose; and grandchildren Kennedy Henderson, Charlotte Hensley, and Neil Hensley.
