Brent Norman Hunter was born on August 17, 1953, He was born in Provo, Utah. to Norman Ray and Cozette Stewart Hunter. He died July 27, 2020, in Provo, Utah. Brent was married to his beloved wife Roxiann Marie Drummond who proceeded him in death on Dec. 10, 2019. They were married on January 24, 1975, and later married in the Provo Temple on July 15, 1993. They raised their family and made a loving home in Orem, Utah. Their children are Rachelle (Robert) Wheatley, Marchezt (Troy) Carman, and Nicholas Hunter, and they have 8 precious grandchildren.
Greg and Jeanie (Davis) Patterson, love Roxiann and Brent and their family very much! Roxiann is my niece (Jeanie’s niece) and she was more like a sister to me since she was close to my age as we grew up together. She was only 8 years younger than I. So consequently, I knew Brent all of their married life and even during their courtship. Roxiann came to live with me for a while when they were dating and shortly before their marriage. Through the years, as we got to know Brent better, we realized what a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he was. We marveled at the very brave fight he waged against Parkinson’s disease. He struggled many years with this debilitating disease and it took a heavy toll on him and everyone who loved him. He tried not to let it get him down, but it was a constant battle.
The Hunters were always a very important part of our lives, so every time Greg and I would come through Orem we would stop and visit and sometimes stay overnight. Many times, we would bring Kentucky Fried chicken over because it was one of Brent’s favorite meals. We especially enjoyed attending the Hunter Family Sunday dinners; where everyone would get together and have grilled hamburgers and hotdogs and plenty of other good food. We appreciated that they shared not only their home and their food but their children and grandchildren with us. We grew to love every one of the family members. We always felt welcome and that they were happy to see us.
We love Brent and his kind, quiet manner. Greg would engage him and could get him to talk and Brent always wanted Greg to tell him war stories. Even though Brent was quiet, a person would do well to take the time to listen to him because he could come up with some of the funniest sayings. For example, between the Parkinson’s and the medication he had to take, Brent would sometimes have hallucinations. So, we were talking to him one day and we asked, “Are you still seeing ants, spiders. and bugs all around your chair?” He said, “Oh yes, of course. and we are on a first-name basis now.” We laughed and laughed.
We love and will greatly miss being able to go visit and be with Brent and Roxiann. They will ever be in our hearts and we look forward and have the faith and hope that we will one day all be together again in the kingdom of our Heavenly Father.
