Raised in Tribute:
$128.75Patsy McDaniel was a daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and, more importantly, very much so her own woman. She was diagnosed in the early 2000s, in her early 50's, and died a few days after her birthday in May 2020. A woman with so much life and love lost so much because of this disease. Her depression and anxiety did not hinder her ability to express her love for those in her "circle". It did, however, rob her of her quality of life and by proxy my grandfather's and extended family. She was not able to be the woman she wanted to be due to her embarrassment and depression. This is not uncommon. While I loved my grandmother and will look back on her with fond memories, this disease has caused and causes my family and me much anger and sadness. There was little any of us could do other than to watch it take her over. If you have the means and resources, help those who are affected by this. This is much larger than a disease, like many others, it affected everyone who knew her. Support friends and family members of those who's family members have Parkinson's. They need it. Love and be patient with those you know who have Parkinson's. My grandmother loved deep and cared for those she could. If she were alive today, she would still be looking out for those in need. While she may never be able to ride on the back of the motorcycle with my grandpa, or visit family, send letters, talk hours on the phone, play pool, drink, laugh, love, enjoy her sunbathing or her soap opera' can still live on through her family who loved her dearly.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $800 million in high-impact research funded to date.
