$373.75Tom was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease shortly after retirement. Tom was a marine serving in the Vietnam War and worked for the United States Postal Service for thirty-eight years. He loved to garden, do yard work, volunteer his time to various groups such as the Holy Name Society, VFW, and Knights of Columbus. Tom loved being a Grandpa and enjoyed family trips and outings with his grandkids. The first few years that Tom had Parkinson's he found he was unable to carry out fine motor skills, like buttoning a shirt, he experienced tremors and balance issues. As time went on, these symptoms progressed and robbed Tom of partaking in the things he enjoyed so much. Eventually, Tom became totally dependant on his wife Lois for his total care.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $800 million in high-impact research funded to date.
