Raised in Tribute:
$728.15Born in 1952 in Corpus Christie, TX, Sherrie grew up in Texas and then Pensacola, FL. She met her husband Chas on the beach in 1972 - they were together for the next 48 years. Sherrie graduated from the University of Florida in 1972, earning a degree in sociology with honors . She and Chas then moved for a brief period to Washington State, and then to the San Francisco Bay Area. After stints in SF and Tiburon, they moved to a tiny cottage in Fairfax, CA, which, through many remodels, would transform into their family home for the next 38 years. Sherrie worked initially as a professional ballet dancer with the Pacific Ballet and dance teacher at UCSF, before becoming a sales executive in the tech industry. Across jobs at Wang, CSS, CMS, Sybase, and Thompson Reuters Elite, she excelled as a top sales performer wherever she worked.
Sherrie was best characterized by an active, undaunted spirit determined to live life to the fullest alongside the people she loved, whether it was through dance, travel, running or her love for being outside. She was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2013, but continued these passions in the ways that she could, through walks in Fairfax and RV trips right up until her final days. She died peacefully of natural causes on April 20, 2020 at home in Fairfax. She is survived by her husband Chas and son Ben, her sister Frances Lee, as well as a loving circle of family and friends in California, Florida, Virginia and beyond.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $800 million in high-impact research funded to date.
