About Uncle Bill
He was my mother's youngest brother. I have early memories of him visiting on leave from the Navy and playing with all of us. I also was lucky enough to watch him meet my aunt, who was staying at my grandmother's. They had a wonderful romance and a lovely wedding. Wow, were they in love and they stayed that way their entire marriage.
They gave me two fun cousins who have wonderful children and my uncle lived long enough to know that his first great grandson would be arriving this August. He was so happy about that.
He was tall, played golf, teased all of us without mercy, and we had a great time. He and my aunt settled in a house he designed in Virginia on two acres of woods. He set it up so that he could practice driving a golf ball in his back yard. He also designed a set for Bethlehem at the behest of his pastor and it was a much visited place at Christmas time where they lived. He and my aunt had many people who loved and cherished them and we will all miss Uncle Bill. In our family, he as known as the prayer warrior - he was great at it.
He kept his wits about him to the end, even though his particular form of Parkinson's was rapid and harsh. It is my hope that in his memory I can give so that others may be helped and not suffer as he did, though he did not complain. What a guy.
