Raised in Tribute:
$203.00Anne Truesdale Nicholson was a loving wife to Gordon Nicholson; a proud mother of three children; and a sweet grandmother to nine grandchildren. Born to loving parents in Grand Rapids, Michigan and a graduate of Grinnell College, she lived finally in Panther Valley, in Allamuchy Township in New Jersey where she was her husband's main caregiver in the latter part of his life, whilst he battled Alzheimer's disease. She was diagnosed with Parkinson’s late in life and her dementia came on slowly, however, it was very difficult for those who loved and cared for her to see this disease take control of her motor skills, her speech, and especially her memories. Her first born, Karen Leehr, participated in a Parkinson’s support group to try and learn about the disease, in order to cope and help Anne. It is unfortunate that because the disease took to Anne late in life, she was not open to using the techniques to help her. As her family, if there is one thing that we've learned from her journey, it's the power of positive thinking and early education and support!
She is dearly missed, but we take comfort in knowing she is with her husband, at peace.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $800 million in high-impact research funded to date.
