$559.00Born on 3rd May, 1943, Dr. Adewunmi Aderounmu Desalu was a Nigerian resident in Lagos. He was the Managing Director of Botad General Limited. Dr. Adewunmi Desalu attended Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos, for both his Ordinary and Advanced Level Studies between 1957 and 1963. Thereafter, he won the “Best African Student Scholarship” under the African Scholarship Program of American Universities (ASPAU) and proceeded to the United States of America.
Adewunmi attended the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, where he obtained his Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering (1967). He then preceded to the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts where he obtained three degrees in Master of Electrical Engineering (1968), Professional Electrical Engineering (1969), and Doctor of Philosophy in Electrical Engineering (1974). He also obtained a degree in Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1977.
Between 1966 and 1967, Dr. Adewunmi Desalu worked with Johns-Manville Research Center in New Jersey as the Process Control Engineer and supervised the Optimal Control on Marinite Manufacture at the Company’s facility in Massachusetts. From 1969 to 1974, Dr. Desalu worked with the Westinghouse Electrical Company, Pittsburgh, USA, as a Senior Systems Engineer for Nuclear Power Plants. To his credit as a high profile researcher, he holds two world patents, viz: a) # 443087 on “Training Simulator for Nuclear Power Plants Reactor Coolant Systems” 1971 and b) # 44308 on “ Engineering Safeguards and Systems in Nuclear Power Plants and Training Simulators” 1971. Dr. Desalu’s spectrum of professional knowledge and activities encompasses Project and Engineering Management Services, Control Systems, Computerized and Integrated Maintenance Systems for Industrial Plants and facilities, Development of Nuclear and Fossil Fuel Power Plants Training Simulators, Rehabilitation of Gas Power Plants and Medical Diagnostics Systems.
Dr. Adewunmi Desalu also taught courses in Mathematics and Industrial Electronics at the University of Pennsylvania between 1976 and 1979.
In 1979, Dr Adewunmi Desalu joined General Electric, USA as an employee and between 1979 and 2011 he rose to the positions of Manager, Managing Director, National Executive, Consultant General Electric, USA, Sales Representative for Gas Turbine Power Plants, Transportation Systems and Medical Diagnostic Systems.
As the Managing Director of BOTAD General Limited, and the Chairman of i3M Power Systems Ltd., Dr Desalu was an active participant in the electric power industry in Nigeria. For more than twenty years he has been involved in the maintenance and the provision of critical components and parts for most of the General Electric turbo-generators at the Ughelli Power Plant, Delta State. He is also one of the promoters of the Ibafo Power Station Limited, a Company given license by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to build an Independent Power Plant in Ogun State.
Dr. Adewunmi Desalu was also the Chairman of Radmed Diagnostic Center Ltd., whose complete medical diagnostic equipment help cut down on time and cost of Nigerians going abroad for medical check-ups and treatment. He has served as a Director of Capital Bank International Ltd., and later as one of the Directors of Access Bank Plc.
Dr. Adewunmi Desalu was a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a Registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and a Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, USA. He was also a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering (NAE).
