Raised in Tribute:
$2129.25Carmen Julia Laracuente Maldonado was beset with Parkinson's in 2009. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1937, she earned her Bachelors of Science in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, married Dr. Jose M. Laracuente, US Army Colonel, and lived in various cities including San Juan, New York, Dayton Ohio, Washington DC, Miami and Atlanta. Starting out as a medical technologist, she then shifted careers after her children graduated high school, and excelled in real estate in South Florida until retiring. Carmen loved classical music, the theater, and dining out which included chocolate and desserts which sometimes came first. After a long fight with this disabling disease she passed away in Grayson Georgia on September 20, 2019. Carmen was a loving wife, mother to two sons, and grandmother to their four wonderful children. In the early onset of the disease she struggled with balance and as the disease progressed and her health failed, she ultimately became bed ridden. She entered several clinical trials through Emory University to collect data to help understand the progression of Parkinson's. Ultimately at 81 years old, she lost her long fight and is now in Heaven. She is survived by her husband of 59 years and her two sons, Jose and Antonio and their spouses, Shelley and Maria and her four grandchildren, Donald Jose, Nicolas Javier, Jose Antonio and Anelise Maria.
Her loving family is committed to supporting medical research to find a cure for this devastating disease. We encourage you to contribute to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
