My stepfather, Dr. Oreste LeRoy Salerni, has been bravely and gracefully battling Parkinson’s for around a decade, after "officially" being diagnosed in 2009. Born in the small town of Bolivar, Pennsylvania, he is the youngest son of Italian immigrants and LOVES all Pittsburgh related sports!
After 36 years as a Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at Butler University in Indianapolis, he retired and moved to FL with his loving wife, my mother Marti. Throughout his battle with Parkinson's he has remained courageous and maintained his sense of humor, despite some periods of ups and downs. He keeps as active as he can, still enjoying an occasional round of golf as well as exercise classes at their local YMCA.
LeRoy is a true advocate of research for a cure, so it was a perfect fit to choose the Michael J Fox Foundation as the platform to share his story, provide updates, and have a central location to allow friends and family to donate to help find a cure!
Let's Beat This Together!
