$1088.50Joel never stopped living life to the fullest.
Despite having Parkinson's he was always determined to do the things he loved. He challenged his disease by riding his bike several times a week along with his service dog Olga and continued to engage with the world around him, reading the Sunday paper and teaching everyone around him about how the world works. As things progressed, he never stopped making his family and friends laugh-- he got "punnier" and "punnier" as it got harder to speak in long sentences.
He always found a way to rise to the occasion despite the intense physical difficulty including taking up adaptive skiing, dancing at his daughter's wedding, and holding his granddaughter. Living with 25 years of Parkinson's he defied all expectations.
He passed on a clear morning on May 30th surrounded by family and love.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease and to ensuring the development of improved therapies for those living with Parkinson's today. The Foundation is the world's largest nonprofit funder of Parkinson's research, with more than $800 million in high-impact research funded to date.
