My Grandfather Nicholas J. ‘Nick’ Bush, II was a good man & a happy man. The best way I can describe him was as someone who radiated a sunny, benevolent sense of life and an energetic, go-getter activeness. Every memory I have with him we were always off on some fun trip or adventure, or he was hustling taking care of the business of his work, his family, and the business of life generally, happily teaching my brother and me many valuable lessons in the process. And no matter what he was doing or where he was going, he always had a big smile on his face and a gentle, welcoming way of doing it - a most friendly way of being himself. It’s the main reason I think no one ever had cross words to say about him, and why all who came to know Grandpa Nick loved him. And his energy of action and spirit of friendliness led him to a long life of leadership and willing responsibilities within his communities - be they of the family, social, workplace, or civic ones. This was the inspiring life he lived. And our Bush family was fortunate that Grandpa Nick’s spirit and activeness that we all loved lasted well into his later years of life, and that Parkinson’s Disease did not set in for him until his last few years. We know many are not as fortunate. Nonetheless, to see the man I always knew who was full of life and vigor transformed by the disease was deeply frustrating & saddening. The worst part was the helpless feeling that there was little we could do to help him through it. Our family now knows first-hand what all those who suffer from PD and those who love them endure. And so I was inspired to do what I could to help overcome this disease. Because I hope to see a day very soon in the future when others won’t have to see the light and life of their special sunshines and superstars dim too soon. Grandpa Nick will definitely not be remembered by us for how he died, but for the wonderful way in which he lived. And in honor of that wonderful life, I’ve established this tribute page and contribution - so that more may know what it was like to be sun-kissed by a ray of Grandpa Nick’s joyous soul, and so that someday others like him will shine brightly and fully until their very ends. We will always love you Grandpa. Thank you for all that you were as a man and grandfather, and thank you for how you passed that down to your adoring family.
Love,
Christopher
